THE ASSAM MUNICIPAL (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1936

ASSAM ACT XII OF 1936

An Act further to amend the Assam Municipal Act, 1923.

Preamble:- Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Municipal Act, 1923 ;

It is hereby enacted as follows :

1. Short title:- This Act may be called the Assam Municipal (Amendment) Act, 1936.

2. Commencement:- It shall come into force on such date as the Local Government may, by notification in the Assam Gazette, appoint in this behalf.

3. Extent:- It shall apply to the whole of Assam.

4. Amendment of section 83:- In section 83(1) of the Assam Municipal Act, 1923, after the words “ The tax mentioned in section 59, sub-section (l)(a),” the following shall be inserted, namely, “ (c) and («).”

5. In section 83(2) of the Assam Municipal Act, the word “ aforesaid ” shall be omitted and after the word “ tax ” the words “ mentioned in section 59, sub-section (l)(a)” shall be inserted.
