THE ASSAM SPEAKER'S AND DEPUTY SPEAKER'S SALARIES, ALLOWANCES AND AMENITIES ACT, 2018

ASSAM ACT NO. VIII OF 2018

    An Act to fix the salaries, allowances and amenities for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly.

    Preamble:- WHEREAS it is expedient to fix afresh the salaries and allowances of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly in the manner hereinafter appearing;

    It is hereby enacted in the Sixty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-

1. Short title and commencement:- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Speaker's and Deputy Speaker's Salaries, Allowances and Amenities Act, 2018

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the l st day of April, 2018.

2. Definitions:- In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant to the subject or context,-

(a) "Speaker" and "Deputy Speaker" means the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly;

(b) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.

3. Salaries of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker:- There shall be paid,-

(a) to the Speaker a salary of rupees one lakh and twenty thousand per mensem;

(b) to the Deputy Speaker a salary of rupees one lakh per mensem.
