Delhi Members of Metropolitan Council (Enhancement of Pension) Act, 2000

An Act to provide for the enhancement of pension to the Members of the erstwhile Metropolitan Council, Delhi.
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly ofthe National Capital Territory of Delhi in the Fifty-first year of the Republic of India as follows :—
1. Short title, commencement and application—(1) This Act may be called the Delhi Members ofMetropolitan Council (Enhancement of Pension) Act, 2000
(2) It shall come into forceonthe date of its publication in the official Gazette
(3) It shall apply to Members of the erstwhile Metropolitan Council, Delhi (hereinafter referred to as "the Members of Metropolitan Council") receiving pension under the Members of Metropolitan Council (Salaries and Allowances) Qrder, 1966 issued under section 21 ofthe Delhi Administration Act, 1966 (19 of 1966)
2, Enhancement of Pension to Members of Metropolitan Council—(1) A member of the Metropolitan Council who has completed a minimufe term of five years shall receive a pension of one thousand rupees per mensem. For every year in excess of five years, he shall receive additional pension of two hundred rupees per mensem for each such year or part thereof exceeding six months, subject to a maximum pension of two thousand rupees per mensem
(2) A member who opts to draw pension under this Act, he shall be deemed to have chosen not to receive pension undersub-paragraph (1) of clause 7 of the Members of Metropolitan Council (Salaries and Allowances and Pension) Order, 1966 but the pension paid underthis Actshall continue to be subject to the same terms and conditions governing pension in the said Order
