THE GANDHIJI UNIVERSITY (DISSOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND THE SYNDICATE) ACT, 1988

(ACT 13 OF 1988)

    An Act to provide for the dissolution of the Senate and the Syndicate of the Gandhiji University

    Preamble.-WHEREAS it is considered necessary in the interest of the Gandhiji University and in the public interest to dissolve the Senate and the Syndicate of the Gandhiji University and to entrust the powers and functions of the Senate and the Syndicate temporarily to the Vice-Chancellor of the Gandhiji University;

BE it enacted in Thirty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

1.Short title and commencement.-(1) This Act may be called the Gandhiji University (Dissolution of the Senate and the Syndicate) Act, 1988.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 24 th day of December, 1987.

2. Definitions.—In this Act,-

(a) “ Gandhiji University” means the Gandhiji University constituted under the Gandhiji University Act, 1985 (12 of 1985);

(b) “Senate” and “Syndicate” means the Senate and the Syndicate of the Gandhiji University;

(c) “Vice-Chancellor” means the Vice-Chancellor of the Gandhiji University.

3. Dissolution of the Senate and the Syndicate —Notwithstanding anything contained in the Gandhiji University Act, 1985 (12 of 1985) on and from the date of commencement of this Act, the Senate and the Syndicate shall, by virtue of this Act stand dissolved.

4. Consequence of Dissolution.-On the dissolution of the Senate and the Syndicate under section 3, all the members of the Senate and the Syndicate shall be deemed to have vacated their offices as such.
