THE MEGHALAYA FARMERS’ (EMPOWERMENT) COMMISSION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2020
ACT NO. 20 OF 2020
An Act further to amend the Meghalaya Farmers’ (Empowerment) Commission Act, 2019. Be it enacted by the legislature of the State of Meghalaya in the seventy first year of the Republic of India as follows :-
1. Short title, extent and commencement:- (1) This Act may be called the Meghalaya Farmers’ (Empowerment) Commission (Amendment) Act, 2020.
(2) It shall extend to the whole State of Meghalaya.
(3) It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Amendment of Chapter II Section 4(1):- In the Meghalaya Farmers’ (Empowerment) Commission Act, 2019, after the existing sub-section (1) of Section 4, the following proviso shall be added :-
“Provided that no person shall hold office as Chairperson after he or she has attained the age of sixty five years.”
