An Act to amend the Tamil Nadu Backward Class Christians and Backward Class Muslims (Resewation of Seats in Educational lnstitutions including Private Educatianal lnstitutions and of appointments or posfs in the services under the State) Act, 2007
Be rt enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Fifty-ninth Year of the Republic of lndia as follows;-
1. Short title and commencement:- (1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Backward Class Christians an Backward Class Muslims (Reservation of Seats in Educational lnstitutions including Private Educational lnstitutions and of appointments or posts in the services under the State) Amendment Act. 2008.
(2) lt shall be deemed to have come into force on the 22nd day of October 2008.
2. Amendment of long title Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 2007:- ln the long title to the Tamil Nadu Backward Class Christians and Backward Class Muslims (Reservation of Seats in Educational lnstitutions including Private Educational lnstitutions and of appointments or posts in the services under the State) Act, 2007 (herernafter referred to as the principal Act), the expression "Backward Class Christians and" shall be omitted.
3. Amendment of section 1:- ln section 1 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), the expression "Backward Class Christians and" shall be omitted
4. Amendment of sectlon 2:- ln section 2 of the principal Act, clause (a) shall be omitted
5. Amendmenr of section 3:- . ln section 3 of the principal Act,-
(1) in the marginal heading, the expression "Backward Class Christians and" shall be omitted;
(2) the expression "Backward Class Christians and" in two places where it occurs. shall be omitted;
(3) the expression "three and one half per cent and" shall be omitted;
(4) the expression "respectively," shall be omitted.
