Raipur : Agriculture Development Centre should adopt 10 villages each and provide training to farmers and youth - Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that Agriculture Science Centres should associate as many farmers and youth as possible and provide them training in agricultural training activities. He said that each agriculture science centres should adopt 10 villages each and provide them training in agriculture, horticulture, fisheries etc. This will help in promoting advanced agricultural techniques in villages. Dr Singh was addressing the meeting of State Planning Commission's Agriculture Task Force at his residence office today. In the meeting, a presentation on recommendation of permanent work groups under Agriculture Task Force regarding increasing the income of farmers and bringing about necessary change in related activities was given.

Chief Minister said that under SKY scheme 50 lakh families are being provided smart phones, which will be used to provide information related to agriculture through the apps developed for the same. He said that initiatives to educate children about agriculture and create interest in them about this sector should be taken at school-level so that they feel more connected to the subject of agriculture. Chief Minister said that farmers can also be educated about agricultural techniques in Gram Sabhas of panchayats. He added that the educated youth of the village can be trained and provided employed under MNREGA through agriculture development centres.

On the occasion, Vice-Chairman of State Planning Commission Mr. Sunil Kumar, unofficial member Professor Dinesh Marothiya, Chairmen of Agriculture Task Force's permanent groups- Mr. SK Patil (Vice-Chancellor Indira Gandhi Agriculture University Raipur, Dr PK Joshi (Director South Asia International Food Policy Research Institute New Delhi), Professor Sukhpal Singh (IIM Ahmedabad), Dr VP Singh Senior Advisor For Policy and Development (ICRF South Asia New Delhi), Dr Vishwa Vallabh (Professor and Coordinator CRM School of Business and Human Resources XLRI Jamshedpur), Professor Brij Gopal Coordinator Centre for Inland Waters in South Asia Jaipur, and Chief Minister's Special Secretary Mr. Mukesh Bansal.
