Swapping of SOS village land measuring 2397 sqm. with equivalent airport land for construction of hangars at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for swapping of Save Our Soul (SOS) village land measuring 2397 sqm. with Airport Authority of India’s (AAI's) equivalent airport land measuring 2397 sqm. This will facilitate construction of hangars at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBI), Guwahati. The Secretary General, SOS village has already given his consent in writing for the swapping of the village land with AAI land.
The construction of the hangar on the swapped land will facilitate the development of the LGBI Airport. This decision will also help in greater social inclusion of the North Eastern Region. The construction of three hangars to park increased number of aircraft will facilitate increase in scheduled/non-scheduled operators to meet growing traffic demand.
Background:-
To meet the requirement of various scheduled/non-scheduled operators for housing of aircraft, work for construction of three hangars at LGBI Airport, Guwahati has been awarded. Airport land at the proposed location where hangars are being constructed is not a regular shaped plot and is having a kink. The adjoining land falling in the kink portion belongs to SOS village having an area of 2397 sqm. Beyond the SOS village is AAI land, which incidentally has an equivalent area.

प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में आज संकट संदेश (एसओएस) वाले गांव की 2397 वर्ग मीटर जमीन की भारतीय विमान पत्तन प्राधिकरण समान रकबे की जमीन से अदला-बदली को मंजूरी दे दी। इससे लोकप्रिय गोपीनाथ बोरदोलई अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डा (एलजीबीआई) पर हैंगर बनाने में मदद मिलेगी। एसओएस गांव के महासचिव ने गांव की जमीन की विमान पत्तन प्राधिकरण की जमीन से अदला-बदली के लिए लिखित रूप में पहले ही अपनी सहमति दे दी है। अदला-बदली की इस जमीन पर हैंगर बनने से हवाई अड्डे के विकास में मदद मिलेगी। इस निर्णय से पूर्वोत्तर क्षेत्र के और अधिक सामाजिक समावेश में सहायता मिलेगी। बढ़ती हुई संख्या में विमानों की पार्किंग के लिए 3 हैंगरों के निर्माण से और अधिक संख्या में विमानों की पार्किंग हो सकेगी और इससे अनुसूचित/ गैर अनुसूचित संचालक बढ़ती यातायात मांग पूरी कर सकेंगे।
