Signing of "SAARC Framework Agreement for Energy Cooperation (Electricity)" among the SAARC Member countries in the forthcoming 18th SAARC Summit

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today gave its approval for signing of "SAARC Framework Agreement for Energy Cooperation (Electricity)" among the SAARC Member States during the forthcoming 18th SAARC Summit scheduled to be held at Kathmandu, Nepal on 26-27 November, 2014.
The Agreement will enable greater cooperation in the power sector among SAARC countries. The Agreement is expected to improve the power availability in the entire SAARC region. It would facilitate integrated operation of the regional power grid.
सार्क देशों में ऊर्जा सहयोग समझौता, आगामी 18वीं शिखर बैठक में सार्क देशों के बीच समझौता किया जाएगा
केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की अध्यक्षता में आज आगामी 18वीं सार्क शिखर बैठक के दौरान सार्क सदस्य देशों के बीच ऊर्जा सहयोग के समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए जाने की अनुमति दी। यह शिखर बैठक 26 और 27 नवम्बर 2014 को काठमांडू में होनी है।
इस समझौते सेसार्क सदस्य देशों के बीच विद्युत क्षेत्र में और अधिक सहयोग किया जा सकेगा। उम्मीद है कि समझौते से समूचे सार्क क्षेत्र में विद्युत आपूर्ति में सुधार आएगा। इसके अलावा समझौते से क्षेत्रीय विद्युत ग्रिड के समेकित प्रचालन में भी मदद मिलेगी।
